Cira Oller Tovar: Good exploration from model to render, with a clear iterative process and strong material understanding.

“Gendo acted as a catalyst for our early iterative form-finding, allowing us to quickly test ideas before hard-modelling the geometry in Rhino.”
Tell us about yourself, and what brings you to competitions like this.
We've been friends since our days in architecture school and love teaming up on different types of projects. We're massive AI enthusiasts, specifically when it comes to integrating AI tools into architectural visualisation.
What did you design, and what were you trying to communicate?
We designed an ascending architectural sequence of thermal spaces and platforms, anchored by resilient, triangular corten steel structures that climb the mountain to a reflective peak building. Through this project, we aimed to communicate a spatial journey from sheltered darkness to the returning light. The design expresses both deep endurance against extreme environments and a sense of hope, acting as a beacon that catches the first sun rays and reflects them down to the shadowed village below.
How did you approach the timeframe, and where did Gendo fit into the process?
Given the tight timeframe, we relied on a highly streamlined workflow. We used Ladybug-Grasshopper for data-driven site analysis to position and orient the peak building. Gendo acted as a catalyst for our early iterative form-finding, allowing us to quickly test ideas before hard-modelling the geometry in Rhino. Finally, Gendo served as our visualisation tool to apply materials and render the finished spaces.
How has your relationship with Gendo developed?
A mix of both: one regular user and one first-timer transitioning from other AI platforms. Our usage expanded significantly this time, as it was our first time testing Gendo on a large-scale scene, and it handled it exceptionally well.
What does the recognition mean to you, and what would you do differently next time?
Being named finalists alongside such strong entries is a huge honour. Next time, we would focus more heavily on illustrating our conceptual process through detailed diagrams and schematics.
Anything else you would like to share about GENDO 48?
Thank you for launching this initiative. We would love the opportunity to partner with you to beta-test emerging models and push the application of Gendo within real-world professional pipelines.
